After a big night in town, the next morning calls for a big breakfast with little worry. We wanted to dine at The Snug Public House the night before since it was closer to home, but they were all booked out, show tell signs it was a good place, right?! Luckily no booking was needed for Saturday lunch with a few families dining inside, and local (Irish) men drinking early before the afternoon.
The Snug Public House is owned and operated by a lovely husband and wife team. The wife (pictured below at the bar) showed us to our seats outside. The place had a very intimate setting and warm decor.

Pumpkin soup $8
Behold... the most amazing bread I've had. Ever. This was my first time trying Irish soda bread, and by gosh, where have you been all my life?! Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit but those you know me understand my love and need for carbs. The texture and taste is very different, sort of crumbly, a bit sweet but not really? Really one of those indescribable things. Dipping the bread into the pumpkin soup made for a simply and light lunch (too bad this wasn't my dish)...
Spicy Buffalo Wings 6 for $9.90 or 12 for $16.90
These wings were delicious and I could of had the whole serving myself and be done for the day. It was sticky, saucy and packed the right amount of heat. The salad and celery soldiers were left untouched sadly and there was little to no need for the blue cheese sauce that accompanied it.
(Forgotten the price, but was very reasonable)
Anders had this dish and struggled to finish (he eats a fair amount as well, mind you). It looks epic, doesn't it?! It came with a side of fries and tomato sauce that was seasoned but barely touched as there was not enough room to stomach more.
Mrs Brown's Beef Stew ($24.90 for dinner, I think I paid like $15 for lunch?)
How massive this was, I still cannot comprehend. It was LITERALLY a loaf of bread with the innards dug out to be filled with delicious beef stew. Soak up that stew, you beautiful loaf of bread. Large chunks of potato, carrots and beef that has been slowly braising in stout stock. I really did not know where to start, should I dunk the bread, should I have a carrot, do I eat the lid?
The bread (made in house) was nice and fluffy and I decided to start by eating a few pieces of carrot and digging for some beef. There was lots flavour in the stew and was very warm and hearty, perfect for overcast morning when you are not feeling your finest. It was a hug on a plate, really. Of course I was barely able to finish half of it which felt like such a big waste (sad).
The service was warm and friendly, exactly what you expect a family run business to be. I also enjoyed the choice of outdoor or indoor seating, with an appropriate selection of beers on tap. Whilst I love Sydney dining, you really cannot find something like this (for this price at least) back home.
Why hello there, Niall from One Direction
Look, if it's good enough for Niall, it is good enough for me.
