Sydney, you just don't know what you want to be. Your bipolar weather leaves me no choice but to go to the beach during the day and have hot pot at night. Hot pot has to be one of my favourite winter warmers. Not only does its bring people together, it's hard not consume large amounts of fish tofu if you're me. It gets quite frustrating fighting with your best friend for the last quail egg though, luckily at CQL Mini Pot we all get our own individual pots.

For $29.90 you get your own pot of chicken broth (extra $1.80-$2 extra for fancy shmancy ones like the chilli one I got). You also get a metal platter to put all your goodies on and two hours to eat till your stomach is content.

Touch sensitive hot plates

Drinks menu

Orders of what stock you would like is placed into their iPad menu and pots of flavoursome broth quick arrive at our tables. At the front of the restaurant is a freezer filled with lots of thinly sliced rare beef/lamb and fish tofu balls galore!

Selection of veg, noodles, tofu, mushrooms etc.

Great selection of veg and different types of noodles. Assorted mushrooms and a variety of tofu. Unless you're super picky, there is something for everyone. Also limitless supply of quail eggs. Even try cracking an egg into your pot for some poached egg goodness.

Clockwise from top left: Water Chestnut, Herbal Jelly & Syrup, Pickled Cabbage, Kelp Salad

Putting food into a pot and waiting for it boil is a difficult task to some, so they have also catered to those with some simple salad and noodle dishes that is readily available. But really, what is the point otherwise...

Mussels, Prawns, Fish, Quail Eggs (!!!)

Sauce and condiments

Jasmine Tea and Wong Lo Kat (herbal tea)

My soup was super spicy, and a bit tangy - sichuan style. I had to scoop all the peppercorn balls out for fear of my mouth catching on fire.

Tofu, enoki mushroom, bok choy, fish tofu, quail eggs, sliced beef/lamb and potato noodles

As we all know, while Asian restaurants don't pride themselves on exceptional service it is hard to argue with cheap eats that will fill you up and keep you satisfied. The staff were attentive and not exceptionally rude (we don't ask for much else) and we walked out satisfied with our food babies.
