When your awesome hotel includes free breakfast buffet, of course you have to wake up 30 minutes before it finishes to fuel up before a full day of adventures. Plus I haven't had four-star hotel quality breakfast buffet before, so like super excitement! The hotel's restaurant is located to the right of the lobby and is open for lunch and dinner as well (we stayed there till 4am having tea and coffee another night!). There was an array of western and eastern cuisines, ranging from toast and pastries to noodles and rice.

Noodle Bar - three different selections daily

Ermmmguaarrdd, snails! Top: Coconut & Apricot, Bottom: God knows what...

Moar pastries! Top to Bottom: Sultana Snail, Apple Danish, Chocolate Danish

[L to R]: Steamed Lotus Bun, Various Steamed Dim Sims

Beef Ball Noodle Soup

Fresh Fruit and Pastries

Teeheee, I actually had another small plate of Kuay Teow noodle thing and a slice of multigrain toast with sunny side egg on top. Also had 2 glasses of soy milk and a cup of milk tea. Could. Not. Move.
The noodles were a simple start to warm my belly up in the blasting air con. Mind you it's only a very tiny portion, seriously. There was also a salad bar that was left untouched by me, oops. I ended my meal on a sweet note with fresh pineapples and papaya, watermelon was also available. The little pastry on the right ended up being a lemon danish, yuck. Don't get me wrong, I love my sweet but sour desserts however this was just one of those really bad plane food type ones.
This has got to be one of the better breakfast buffets I've had *thumbs up*

After a long day of shopping at Pavilion Shopping Centre (I'm sure I spent 1.5 hours at Zara alone) we met up for lunch at the bottom level. Apart from the famous Suria KLCC food court, the second most trafficked according to this article I found on Google is Food Republic at the bottom of Pavilion Shopping Centre. We visited the Suria food court a bit earlier on and we all agree that Food Republic was by far the better hawker one in terms of food variety, size and price. Located on the first floor (you have to go downstairs once you enter the building) there is a wide variety of local, Asian and Western eateries including some favourites like Ichi Ban Boshi.

Open dining area

Delicious milk tea making at Toast Box

Like in all food courts, I do round of the food court to see what it provides. Great choices from fried rice at Little Wok, to famous Malaysian Fried Kuay Teow, and even Teppanyaki. In the end I settle for something I just couldn't resist - a make your own fish ball noodle soup (Yes, it quite obvious I have a slight obsession for fish balls)! Displayed like an open buffet, you grab your bowl and tongs and pick what fish balls, tofu, meats and vegetables you'd like. You also choose what type of noodle, from instant ramen to rice noodles and hokkien style noodles - the list is seemingly endless. Each ball thing costs around 0.10 RM with larger items such as veggies and fried tofu skin costing a bit more.

Yong Tau Foo stall - fish balls, noodles and soups.

Fish balls cooking in broth

My beautiful bowl of delciousness that costed around 15.50 RM (Approx $5.20 AUD!)

After you have finished selecting what you want, pass your bowl onto the "chefs" and they'll cut the fish balls up and cook them for you boiling hot broth. There are two different soups to choose from, chicken or spicy. The spicy soup is milk based, much like a laska with a great fiery kick to it. Garnished with spring onions and fried onions, it is a hefty lunch and I'm left feeling more than satisfied.

There are also different vendors on this level selling sweets and breads, basically anything food related, really. I know we have these "rock candy" shops in Sydney/Australia as well, but I think it's so awesome how they just roll out this fat piece of slab into those tiny little cylinder-shaped candies. And they're so yummy (diet, what diet?) I couldn't resist 1, or 2, free samples of the freshly chopped green apple one.
