Oh hello there, high exposure photos. The sun was bright, the wind was strong, and nothing not even getting lost in North Sydney and crossing the harbour bridge by accident stopped us from making our way to Three Blue Ducks in Bronte for brunch! Prepare yourselves, and your stomachs, for part 1 of a 4 part series of our ONE DAY food adventures.
The restaurant, which is opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner, has two separate dining areas. One side with a bar, the other with a little open kitchen. Graffiti walls and wooden furniture give it a real cool and causal feel - no need to dress up to this one. The staff were super friendly when I was taking photos of the place, asking what it was for and what my blog is called. They were also great assistance when we asked them to recommend us some dishes.
Single Origin Roasters Coffee Latte - $4
Fresh Young Coconut - $6 (or $7?)
Fresh Banana Smoothie - $6
(I forgot the name but it was some apple, mint and something juice - $6?)
Our drinks arrived not too long after we ordered. The coffee roast is the same as Circa, which I love. Sweet fresh young coconut juice, and fresh (I only like fresh bananas, not that syrup stuff. Not a snob though, promise!) banana smoothie puts a smile on all our faces. The juice was a bit tangy for my taste buds in the morning but it was great after/during our meal.
Scrambled eggs with black sausage, dill cucumber yoghurt salad and red currant jam - $19
Baked eggs with chorizo, capsicum salsa and cannellini beans - $19
Poached eggs, spinach, sauce hollandaise and ocean trout - $19
Avocado toast with herb salad and oven roasted tomatoes -$16
Our dishes all arrived the same time with little to wait for them. Each of them came with a slice of sourdough with herbed butter spread and melted on (yum!). I ordered the ocean trout one, which was actually my favourite out of all of them. The trout was cooked beautifully with a nice crispy top, perfectly poached eggs and spinach. Having all three components at once + topped with the hollandaise sauce = mouth/mind blown. The chorizo and cannellini beans were my next favourite. When was the last time you had beans for breakfast? Beans with salty pieces of chorizo and egg whites mixed on top of bread, both thumbs up for this dish. We were all quite curious to try the black sausage, and when it came out we had a bit of a giggle - who knew it was actually black!? By itself, the sausage is a bit too salty in my opinion. Must eat it with the jam, which compliments it beautifully giving it a nice sweetness to combat the saltiness. The avocado toast was pretty standard, you really can't go wrong with avocado, toast and poached eggs. Was still a wonderfully cooked dish though. I have nothing but compliments to the chefs and staff of Three Blue Ducks. Hats off to you, my friends.
